Healthline's review Why we love it: Factor provides dietitian-designed meals for a wide range of diets. Our Nutrition editor and tester, Kelli McGrane, MS, RD, tried over 25 meal delivery services, and Factor stood out as the best prepared option thanks to its satisfying flavors, nutritionally balanced meals, and good variety of options.
According to McGrane, “Factor’s meals exceeded my expectations. None of the vegetables were bland or mushy, the proteins were all cooked perfectly, and the flavors were on point.”
We also love that Factor uses fresh, never frozen ingredients to create meals free from hormones, antibiotics, refined sugars, and GMOs .

Best for restaurant-worthy flavors Price per serving: $11.09–$13.59 Menus: general menu with diet-specific filters Healthline score: 4.0 out of 5 Healthline's review Why we love it: With meals crafted by regional, award-winning chefs, it’s no wonder that CookUnity scored highly for flavor during testing. In fact, our tester, Kelli McGrane, noted that CookUnity’s tasted just as good as meals she’s ordered from local restaurants.
CookUnity stands out in that its menu is fully driven by the chefs that participate in the service. Because of this, and the service’s commitment to seasonal ingredients , CookUnity’s menu varies by region.
According to McGrane, “All of the proteins were well-seasoned and well-cooked, the vegetables tasted fresh, and the grains and starches were chewy without being too soft or too dry. Everything I tried was packed with flavor and didn’t require any additional seasonings.”
The biggest downside? The service isn’t cheap, though depending on where you live, it may be comparable to the cost of ordering takeout.
McGrane also noted that many of her meals were higher in calories and saturated fat than she would’ve liked. Because of this, she recommends using the filter feature on CookUnity’s menu to find meals that best fit your dietary needs and preferences.

According to Healthline editor Steven Rowe , despite being low in calories and reheated in the microwave, “the taste and texture of BistroMD’s meals was very good.
“I [also] appreciated that the meals can be microwaved and served in the same tray, which is handy for days when you’re busy and don’t want to worry about cleaning dishes later.”
In addition to breakfasts and lunch and dinner entrees, you can purchase optional snacks that fit into the meal plan you choose.
In fact, the shakes were Rowe’s favorite part of the delivery service, noting, “I loved the shakes the most as they were very satisfying and flavorful. Because of the shakes and snacks, I always had a full meal even if I didn’t like something on the plate — if I could just order the shakes, I would!”

“Unlike many store-bought smoothies, I love Splendid Spoon smoothies because they’re flavorful without being overly sweet. I also like that they contain ingredient combinations that I wouldn’t think to make on my own,” shared McGrane.
She also noted that the Vegan Meatballs & Marinara Noodles is one of her all-time favorite lunch items from a prepared meal delivery service.

Mosaic offers a fixed menu with more than 50 options, including a variety of veggie bowls, pizzas, soups, and oat bowls.
McGrane tried a handful of single-serve and family-size meals. She particularly appreciated that the meals were filling, packed with veggies, and generally high in protein — which isn’t always the case with plant-based offerings. She also found there to be a good variety of meals to choose from.
That said, she liked some meals better than others. Specifically, she found the family-size meals and the personal pizzas to be the most satisfying, while the Veggie Bowls were a bit more hit or miss when it came to overall flavor and texture.

She also praised the service for its good variety of meals to choose from, “The menus available when I tried the service had chicken, beef, and fish options as well as plant-based proteins. There were also filters for ‘low carb’ and ‘keto’ to make them easier to find,” said Abellon.

Here’s a quick rundown of six additional fully prepared meal delivery services that we tested:
Daily Harvest (3.6 out of 5): This plant-based service is similar to Splendid Spoon in terms of the types of entrees offered: smoothies, grain bowls, soups, etc. While we appreciated the creative ingredient combinations and high quality ingredients, many of the items we tested fell flat in terms of texture and satiety power.Diet-to-Go (3.6 out of 5): Designed for people trying to lose weight, our tester found Diet-to-Go’s meals a bit too mushy and lacking in flavor for her taste. Still, for people trying to lose weight (especially if you’re following a specialty diet like keto), Diet-to-Go may be worth it for the convenience. Epicured (4.1 out of 5): Following a low FODMAP diet isn’t easy, so the convenience factor alone makes this service worth considering. However, our tester was also pleasantly surprised to find that the service delivered on taste and texture too. Just keep in mind that Epicured isn’t cheap.Fresh N Lean (3.8 out of 5) : Catering to a variety of specialty diets, Fresh N Lean is a favorite service among many. However, our tester wasn’t wowed, noting that the meals just weren’t flavorful enough to justify the cost — especially with so many other options to choose from. ModifyHealth (3.4 out of 5) : ModifyHealth is similar to Epicured in that it’s designed to make following certain diets, like low FODMAP and heart-healthy diets, easier. However, during testing, we found that the meals had a watery taste and texture that was hard to get over. We also experienced an issue with our order: Instead of receiving four different meals, we received doubles of just two entrees. The Good Kitchen (3.6 out of 5) : While there were some aspects of the service we didn’t love — the website isn’t the most intuitive to use, and the meals needed additional seasonings — our tester found The Good Kitchen’s ingredients to be impressively fresh-tasting.At Healthline, we know that meal delivery services are an investment, so we’ve taken the time to test more than 20 of the most popular prepared meal delivery services on the market. Testers select a week’s worth of meals from multiple menus to get a well-rounded view of the types of flavors and ingredients offered.
During testing, we consider several factors, including the ease of the sign-up and meal selection process, the variety and nutritional composition of the meals offered, ingredient quality and freshness, how easy the meals are to cook, and, of course, the taste. You can learn more about how we test meal kits .
