I haven’t posted in a while. I finally had a consultation with a neurologist (my first time ever) that I waited three months to get in to see. I was disappointed. She said headaches and migraines are the same thing just headaches are less severe. Have any of you been told that? She wants to put me on Topamax but stick with Imitrex for abortive. I really don’t like the side effects of Topamax. I told her Imitrex isn’t as effective as before but I feel like she didn’t listen. She also told me Advil makes headaches worse and don’t take it. I told her I’ve had more success lately (much fewer headaches and migraines) since my gyn increased my progesterone and I get acupuncture weekly. She basically said that’s nice but prescription meds would be better. I do plan on getting the MRI she ordered but I don’t want to try Topamax.

Medication and Treatments
Hi, I recently started reading “The Way Out” by Alan Gordon about neuropathic pain and how to do somatic tracking. I first heard about him and the book from the Migraine World Summit this year. I have had some success with this in my first week, but I find the days I work the hardest, and of course trying to do it myself with just the book is difficult. I think it needs its own support group! I was wondering if anyone else here has heard of it and may also be giving it a try. For me I am finding days my headache goes away on its own which is amazing to me. It is reducing how many OTC meds I take which has been daily for about a year. The last two days have been much harder - it is definitely not for everyone. Thank you!

Hi, all. I've been having vestibular migraines (probably) on and off all day, every day for months. I have a neurologist for "regular" migraines, which I've been getting for years, but this is different and he doesn't have any more answers. I need to at least know what this is. He suggested a second opinion at one location, but there's a waiting list for even scheduling an appointment. Does anyone know of good migraine specialists (pref from teaching hospitals)? I live in NJ but will travel if I have to.
