Protection of gastric mucosal integrity by gelatin and simple proline-containing peptides

Pathophysiology. 2000 Apr;7(1):69-73. doi: 10.1016/s0928-4680(00)00045-6.

Abstract

We have observed that gelatin as feed supplement protected against ethanol-induced mucosal damages in rats. Intraperitoneally given peptides PG and PGP had similar effects. The increase of mucosal integrity may be connected with the change of microcirculation: the peroral administration of PGP or gelatin given as a feed supplement decreased platelet aggregation.
