Today’s tip: Before you eat, figure out if you’re actually hungry. |
When you’re hungry, your brain and body usually let you know by sending out signals, such as a growling stomach, hunger pangs, or low energy. |
Before you grab your next snack or prepare tonight’s meal, pause for a moment and consider the answer to this question: “Am I hungry?” Or are you eating something because you’re feeling sad, stressed, or bored? |
Learn your unique hunger cues, and trust yourself to know how your body feels when it’s time to eat. Doing a quick mental and physical check-in can help. When was the last time you ate a meal or snack? Is your stomach feeling hollow? |
If you’re actually hungry, go for it! If you realize other emotions or desires are driving your craving for food, consider doing another activity like going for a walk. Check back in again later, and eat when you’re ready. |
