- U.S. officials are expected to recommend that adults receive a third vaccine booster shot 8 months after their second dose, reported CNN. The plan would involve administering third shots beginning in mid- to late September, if the FDA gives authorization.
- A single case of COVID-19 has sparked a major lockdown in New Zealand. According to the BBC, the case was detected in Auckland, which will be locked down for a week, while the rest of New Zealand will be in lockdown for 3 days. Authorities are assuming that the new case was caused by the Delta variant.
- Texas Governor Greg Abbott has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement from his office. Abbott made headlines after he banned mask mandates in his state, which has seen a major surge in COVID-19 related to the Delta variant. Abbott’s office said that he’s fully vaccinated and is currently experiencing no symptoms.
