- New Zealand has ended its plans to completely eliminate the coronavirus amid a “persistent” Delta outbreak. Instead, the island nation will consider COVID-19 to be endemic and will focus on controlling the spread of disease, according to Reuters.
- There were about 12,000 fewer COVID-19 cases in the U.S. this week compared to the week before. Experts are questioning whether the decline is an “ebb and flow of cases” or an actual trend, according to CNN. According to data from Johns Hopkins University, roughly 105,000 new cases are now being reported every day in the U.S.
- Drugmaker Johnson & Johnson has asked the FDA to allow booster shots of its vaccine, reported the Associated Press.
