- President Biden announced that he wants all Americans over 16 to be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine starting April 19. Biden had originally wanted eligibility to expand on May 1.
- A highly contagious coronavirus variant first identified in the U.K. has now been reported in every state in the U.S. Experts are concerned that variants could send U.S. cases surging again.
- Secretary Antony J. Blinken said on Monday that the U.S. is stepping up efforts to combat COVID-19 worldwide. A veteran diplomat has been appointed to run the Biden administration’s global coronavirus response, and the U.S. is pledging to support more equitable production and distribution of vaccines.
