From public health updates to social media diet crazes, our newsroom tracked several major health stories this week. Here is your quick breakdown.
🌶️ On the public health front, Chipotle voluntarily pulled jalapeños from restaurants in select U.S. states following a linked Salmonella outbreak. Concurrently, the CDC continues to monitor the spread of Candida auris, a drug-resistant fungal superbug primarily affecting hospitalized patients. Public health officials emphasize that standard hygiene—like thorough handwashing and basic food safety—remains your best defense.
🏥 In clinical news, Eli Lilly released Phase 3 trial data for retatrutide, an experimental weight-loss drug. Participants on the highest dose lost up to 30 percent of their body weight over two years, marking some of the most potent clinical results to date.
⏳ Could humans live to 194? A recent study suggests DNA mutations naturally limit human lifespan to between 146 and 194 years—proving that while immortality remains unlikely, healthy daily habits remain key to extending wellness.
🐟 Finally, “Biblical eating” trend circulating on TikTok is encouraging people to eat unrefined, scripture-inspired foods. Dietitians applaud the focus on whole foods, but caution against unverified health claims.
